Dr Edwin R. Lampugnani is a Founding Director and the Chief Scientific Officer of AirHealth. He is an aerobiologist with 20 years of research experience in the areas of biochemistry, cellular, molecular biology, and development. Dr Lampugnani obtained his PhD from Monash University in 2011 and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD). Dr Lampugnani played a pivotal role in establishing Australia’s first national pollen and mould monitoring network, generating the underlying workflows and technology required to deliver this information to the community. He led the design and development of Australia’s first Pollen Forecast App, Melbourne Pollen, which each year is utilised by more than 500,000 users, as well as platforms to support pollen monitoring in Sydney, Canberra, and Perth. Dr Lampugnani has led the Melbourne Pollen Count Team for the past three years. He has also worked closely with the Victorian Department of Health and the Bureau of Meteorology on Thunderstorm Asthma forecasting, and codeveloped Australia’s first operational pollen forecasting system.
