Why Air Matters

With every breath we take, we draw in more than just oxygen; we breathe in the very essence of life and, at times, the seeds of potential health challenges. Air quality is a silent influencer, shaping our health, environment, and the world we leave for future generations.

Why is our air so important?

Our air quality is always changing. Pollution from transport and industry, smoke from bushfires and wood heaters, and natural particles like pollen and fungal spores can all cause serious medical problems.

At least 1 in 5 Australians are affected by health conditions that can be exacerbated by poor air quality, with many people unaware that they could be at higher risk.

What can we do about it?

Good air is fundamental for human health. While as individuals we may not be able to control what is in our air, we can manage our exposure and make deliberate choices as to how we interact and conduct daily activities.

Working towards a healthier community where everyone has the knowledge and tools that they need to manage their air and live well.
